How the ancient vedic ritual changed to Raksha Bandhan with Islamic invasion of India.

As per renowned spiritual leader Shri Indradev Ji Maharaj, Raksha Bandhan is actually a vedic festival, and was celebrated by calling a Brahmin or the Guru at home and tying a scared thread from him.

Below are the excerpts from his santsang.

  • With this ritual sanathan dharmi’s used to start a new spiritual or religious vrata. This generally marked a beginning to start something new, in those days they use to start reading some vedic books.
  • Even today in rural India this vedic rituals are followed.
  • This changed with intolerant Islamic invasion of India, which resulted in forceful abduction and conversion of hindu women.
  • Sisters would tie rakhi, the scared thread to brothers, wishing for protection along with praying for their brothers long life and success.
